Gluten-Free Cashew Cacao Teff Brownies

  • 1/2 cup cashew butter
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil melted
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup teff flour
  • 3/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup almond milk


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together cashew butter, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, almond milk, eggs & vanilla.

  3. Mix dry ingredients (teff, cacao, baking powder & salt) in a separate bowl.

  4. Combine all ingredients; spread into 8X8″ pan. Bake in oven for about 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the edges comes out clean.

Recipe Notes

Teff is a grass native to Ethiopia which provides calcium, protein & fiber. The flavor of teff complements the flavor of chocolate well. You can buy teff already ground into flour (such as from Bob’s Red Mill: These brownies have a cak-ey consistency to them.
